The Arms of Love Pregnancy Resource Center
provides adoption support and counseling to birthparents as well as to
adoptive couples. Trained counselors assist birthparents in exploring options
for parenting and adoption and provide support to make informed decisions for
the welfare of the mother and child. If a birthmother chooses to make an
adoption plan, we provide counseling and referral to choose an adoption
professional (agency or attorney) where appropriate. For every infant to
be adopted, 40 couples are waiting. . . . Making
the decision to place a baby for adoption is a tremendous selfless act. A
birthmother who decides to place her baby for adoption is not only choosing
to give her child Life, but is choosing to give her child important things
that she may not be able to provide herself. A two parent family, or
financial and emotional security to name a few. The birth mother may also
feel as though she is simply not mature enough or in a stage in her life
where she can provide a secure home for her child. The birthmother can feel peaceful about her
decision knowing that her baby is going to be loved and well-cared for, while
the adoptive parents’ dream of having a family comes true. An important
thing to know is that you, the birthmother, will make the choice as to who
will raise your child. |

The
Loving Options of Adoption You can
choose a family friend, acquaintance, someone who has been recommended to
you, or someone in another state. You
can also choose from couples screened by an agency. You can choose an open adoption plan that
allows ongoing visits with your child.
You can choose a less open adoption plan that keeps you informed about
your child’s progress through letters and pictures. You may also choose a confidential adoption
plan, which will allow you to remain anonymous, and have no contact with your
child and adoptive family.
